The Most Famous Waterfall in Lombok: Tiu Kelep & Sendang Gile

Nusa Tenggara Barat is a province in Indonesia and also known as Lombok Island which is a biggest island in NTB. Capital city is called Mataram and located in Lombok. This Island consist and surrounded by group of few small Island and have remarkable scenery that captivated local and international tourist. Fyi, Lombok also wide known because of Rinjani Mountain- the 2nd highest volcano mountain in Indonesia.

 Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile was located in Senaru village, Rinjani National Park. Regarded as the gateway for Mount Rinjani, Senaru is well know by travellers for 2 stunning waterfall. It’s far enough, because it’s located in North side of Lombok and take about 3 hours from Mataram city. Actually, Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile was located in same place. However, it’s more easy to reach Sendang Gile since the waterfall can seen from a parking area.



From the parking area, you can walk about 15 minutes go down along stairs to reach Sendang Gile. Since easy to reach, this waterfall always crowded with people. If you like an easy pathway, Sendang Gile was perfect place to visit. Neverthless, the waterfall was pretty impressive and tall. In here, you can rest in big stone and feel the breeze while enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sendang Gile.


If you like an adrenaline tracks, you can continue the trip to Tiu Kelep Waterfall. It’s take about 1 hours from Sendang Gile. The path was clear, you can follow the sign also another tourist that walk in front of you. We must accompanied by guide which provided by Rinjani National Park, so don’t afraid to get lost. The guides will cost about IDR100 / $8,5 for a group of people.

At the first of adventure, you will climbed up a lot of stairs. Then you will across the bridge, please be careful since no grip in both sides of bridge. After several path, you will cross the river in order to reach other part of river. Gosh, when walk inside water, it’s feel very cold since the water flow from Tiu Kelep Waterfall. But it’s gone after a few second due to the water itself very clear and transparent like a mirror.

                                    


Just walk for a few more steps, then you will arrive in Tiu Kelep Waterfall. Suddenly, sense of weary also tired in body just gone. The landscape was simply amazing with vegetations surround the waterfall. Length of waterfall is about 45 meter, so the water debit was very large. You can also swim in pond under the waterfall, but be careful when walk into it since it’s very sliperry because of moss.


Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep indeed the most famous waterfall because it’s very beautiful at first glance that attracted a lot tourist from all over the world.
